If you live in Travis County and are uninsured, we can help you get access to local doctors, specialists, and pharmacies through our Medical Access Program (MAP), MAP Basic, or through one of our healthcare partners.
What is MAP and MAP Basic?
Medical Access Program (MAP)
Central Health’s Medical Access Program (MAP) is a health coverage program for uninsured Travis County residents with low income. With MAP you and your eligible family members can see a doctor, a dentist, and get medicine.
MAP Basic
If you are not eligible for MAP you may be eligible for MAP Basic, which provides access to a doctor, dentist and medicines, but has a more limited level of services.
Enrolling in MAP or MAP Basic will not impact your path to a green card.
Are you Eligible for MAP or MAP Basic?
MAP and MAP Basic eligibility is based on the income you received in the last 30 days. Uninsured Travis County residents with income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level qualify for MAP or MAP Basic if they meet all other eligibility criteria. See the table below.

How to Apply for MAP
- Review and complete the Applicant Responsibility Form. Click here (English and Spanish) to download.
- Provide List of Required Documents.
- Complete application process online, over the phone, or through the mail.
List of Required Documents
You will need at least ONE of the following documents from each category:
Proof that you Live in Travis County
Examples:
- Lease agreement
- Current utility bill
- Mail postmarked (last 30 days)
Picture ID (Adults Only)
Examples:
- Driver’s license
- Foreign ID
- Passport
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Residency for your Household Members, if Applicable
Examples:
- Birth certificate
- Legal Permanent Resident Card
- Passport
Proof of your Household’s Monthly Income
Examples:
- Check stubs from the last 30 days
- Current year Retirement or Social Security Benefits Letter
- Self-employment income
Proof of Health Insurance for your Household Members, if Applicable
Examples:
- Medicaid card
- Medicare card
- Private health insurance
Proof of Your Household Size
Your household includes yourself, your spouse, and children living with you under age 18.
Examples:
- Birth certificates
- Picture identification (adults only)
- Legal guardianship papers
